"My world was beautiful and magical. Our lands were fertile and green. As a child, I wandered through the planting fields as my parents worked side by side growing our sustaining berry tree, the Sorbus. We also planted all of our vegetables and lived sufficiently from the fish and what we harvested. We also grew a special oat that we made our bread from. Growing up, I noticed that I was a bit different from many of the children I played with. My ears were rounded, my eyes light but many of my family and friends had pointed ears and eyes with a slant. Our language was beautiful and the singing of my people as they planted and toiled, wove their cloths, played their handmade instruments, built their tree homes, was my world."
